What the project use must state
Occupancy, hours of use, whether people sleep in the building, and any process load such as a tool crib or a server closet. Those facts pick the design live load discussion. They also decide whether a portable office comparison is even the right family.
Documents and delivery stages
Ask when general arrangement drawings arrive, when reactions for the foundation interface arrive, and whether calculations are in the same package. Delivery stages should separate factory release, freight, set day and any utility hookup. A single ship date hides the stage the buyer actually needs.
Site constraints
Gate width, overhead wires, soil the buyer already knows, and the crane the site can host. Volumetric modules that fit the road may still fail the pad. Panelized packs may fit the pad and still need a longer weather window. Write the constraint next to the method, not after the price ranking.
Code and standard requests
Name the authority having jurisdiction and the code family the buyer thinks applies. IBC, IRC and HUD Code answer different buildings. ASCE 7 is the usual US reference for design loads once the site criteria exist. AISC 360 and AWS D1.1 are requests for steel and weld documentation on the quoted system. None of these names means GridField Sourcing has accredited a plant.
Fire-resistance rating and thermal transmittance, when the jurisdiction asks for them, are supplier statements for the envelope being offered. A generic insulated metal panel description is not a rating. If the buyer does not yet have the climate data, leave the line open and say so in the inquiry.
Standard layouts help when the plan fits a published module. Project-specific engineering is the honest path when the span, the door or the load does not.
